Alietha Ward

BIO

Aleitha Ward is a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers since 2000.  She has worked in the social work field for approximately 38 years, gaining experience with crisis intervention, community development, volunteer management, public awareness, education, and counselling.  Aleitha graduated from the U of L with a BFA (Art) in 2003.  She received her MPS (Art Therapy Specialization) in 2009 from St Stephens College in Edmonton, AB. 

Aleitha continues her career as a therapist in her private practice through aletheia Art Therapy and Counselling, at The Medicine Tree Healing Arts Centre. Until April 2018 she was a co-owner and entrepreneur of that facility for 14 years.  She works with adults, couples and groups using a person-centered and integrative approach.  Although art therapy is her passion, Aleitha also is trained at advanced levels with EMDR as well as Level 1 with the Gottman Institute for working with couples.  She has supplemented this with Hakomi and Emotion Focused Therapy approaches for couple work. 

Aleitha is an artist who engages with multiple mediums.  She is a potter and enjoys painting in her spare time.  She has been married 41 years, has 3 adult sons and 4 grandchildren, all of which has been an education in itself!  She also loves travel, golf and being nature.
